She’s just fun

Danelle Jackman was born in the Salt Lake City area. She grew up in Orem and attended Mountain View High School where her interests leaned toward the sciences.

Danelle was the oldest of the Jackman’s five children. I asked her what her favorite memories were growing up, she just nodded and said, "I pretty much played mom a lot," then giggled. You would have to know Danelle. She takes life’s challenges puts them in perspective, makes the most of them and then moves on. What a great way to face life.

"Mom worked evenings as a flagger or a CNA, dad was a salesman and gone a lot," Danelle commented. "I guess I was kind of a bossy big sister, but I had to grow up fast to take care of the kids."

In 1990 she worked at a nursing/handicap home, in the kitchen. Tom Bettfreund began working at the same facility. They started dating and as the saying goes, the rest is history. But just in case you don’t know their history here’s a brief overview.

In 1991 the Bettfreund’s moved to Kanab with their oldest son Talin. They both enjoyed the out of doors, hunting and fishing. Bettfreund chimed in, "As long as we do things as a family I’m happy. My kids mean the world to me." (Of course I had to throw in a snide comment regarding Tom being another one of her kids. Danelle chose to let the comment stand with no corrections.) The Bettfreund’s other children (excluding Tom) are Taylor and Dawn. The family plays together whenever they get the opportunity.

Danelle’s parents have recently moved back to Kanab so the family is reunited. "I have all but one sister here now. It’s nice to have family around."

Bettfreund joined the Kane County Hospital staff April, 26, 2007. She manages our housekeeping department and works as a CNA on occasion.

"I like working at Kane County Hospital. They are like a second family for me," Danelle mentioned. She and her family don’t think twice about pitching in to help KCH. Wether its Talin taking the trash out for the HR Director, Taylor making decorations for the hospital party, or helping out as a family on one of our spring clean up days, they just show up and pitch in. You can hear them interact and laugh while they participate. It’s a nice sound. Thanks Bettfreunds you guys make a difference.
