Susanna Evans was born in St. George, Utah and lived in Hurricane until 1978. That is the year that her parents, Doug and Eva decided to move to Fredonia. According to Susanna, "That way dad could be home with the family every night."
Susanna has four brothers and two sisters. She was the only girl at home from age 11 on. She remembers, "We would travel back and forth to Alton to visit Grandma and Grandpa. We had fun doing ‘country kid’ stuff."
She has worked and been a mom since she can remember. In 1996 her brother Rodney talked her into taking the CNA course and here she is. Susanna is currently the Medical Assistant for Hernan Garreaud PA-C in Kane County Clinic. She worked in the Skilled Nursing Facility first and recalls, "It is a gut wrenching job. The residents are your family, but when you lose them you lose part of yourself. I loved the work and the people but it was hard." She has also worked in our kitchen and housekeeping departments as well.
Susanna is keen on family especially the multi-cultural aspect which Daniel has brought to their relationship. "Daniel is the love of my life. He has taught me so much and been so good to my kids," and she admitted, "He will not be impressed when he reads the kudos." She has three children, Orry who takes care of his grandma and grandpa, Ryan who attends Westwood College in Colorado, and Stevie who is a sophomore at FHS.
Her hobbies include camping, friends, reading, cross-stitch, and family. Susanna also enjoys going to Pow-Wows. "I love living in two worlds. The Native American Culture has taught me a great deal."
Susanna stopped me this morning to make sure I remember to let everyone know just how great the clinic staff are. "They all help whenever they can. We are all part of a family here. I love working in the clinic." She did mention she was especially fond of Ferdi Rodriquez (lab tech), "He thought I was 5 years younger than I am."
Susanna welcomes her patients with laughter and warmth. Those are two attributes which always make us feel better. We hope you can celebrate your 30 year anniversary here just like Eva did. Thanks Susanna, keep laughing it sounds great.
