Once a Valley Girl always a Valley Girl
Camille was born to Christine and Veloy Tait. She was delivered by Dr. Sundwall in the "old hospital," but grew up in Mt. Carmel.
She grew up doing what most country kids do, played outside. She and her sisters would ride bicycles, camp, fish and play in the creek. They would also ride the three-wheeler and their Odyssey (go-cart). "Mom and dad took the Odyssey away after Riesha (Camille’s sister) ran over me. I blame her for all of my mental problems," Camille related. "And be sure and blame her for that," she added laughing the entire time.
Some of her fondest memories are of being with Grandma Tait. Camille would do the vacuuming for her grandma while they would both listen and sing along to Elvis Presley songs.
Camille enjoyed playing softball and basketball in school. Her favorite subjects were math and home economics. She confessed she really enjoyed teasing the teachers.
Camille is also an avid hunter, "I remember dad getting us girls up at 5:00 AM and getting us ready to go hunting. Mom always got the treats together and away we would go. We do the same thing with our kids now."
She went to a dance when she was 13 and met Travis Franklin. They hung out together for the next 6 years before they were married. "It was good then and still is," she grinned.
They were married on May 1, 1998. "That’s the same day as Elvis and Priscilla. I am a huge Elvis fan," Camille laughed.
Camille and Travis have 4 children, Bailey, Presley, Gannon and Parker. They enjoy camping and boating at Lake Powell. "I guess my family is my hobby," she explained.
Travis and Camille are leaving for their first vacation without the children next week. Camille kind of pondered a moment then added, "I don’t know what I’ll do. I don’t even make trips to the market without the kids."
"I have a lot of good friends at Kane County Hospital. Work is where I come for my social life."
Camille’s warm sparkle and calm demeanor make her an asset in our nursing department. She has been working with us since August 8, 2002. It is truly a pleasure to have her on our team.
